About time to upload eh?

This is my Cosplay of Deunan Knute from Appleseed : Ex Machina.
The costume was my entry in to the Madman National Cosplay Competition, in which I was a Wild Card.

I didn’t place, but I sure had fun dancing in my skit. Oh I love dancing. And the compliments I got afterward and what I read on Twitter about my skit were great to hear, especially after a good 250 hours spent!

These photos were taken in Port Adelaide under a train bridge, and were shot before I got too much regrowth in my hair because I sure wasn’t going to go and get it bleached again. To celebrate the shoot, my hair is now darkest brown. YAY!

About the Costume

More details to be in my journal soon, but:

The most expensive individual component of this costume was the hair. Oh god the hair. I’m not great with things on my head, so my boyfriend convinced me to cut my hair and bleach it. So I went from mid back length dark brown hair to basically a mop cut in blonde…well yellow. Glad to be rid of it!

The bodysuit is 3mm neoprene, up to three layers in some parts. It is very warm. If you need to lose some weight for summer I can lend it to you! I had to glue and hand sew all the seams as I didn’t want stitching to be seen from the outside, and my sewing machine would have broken anyway.

The armour, details (buckles and the like) and gun was cast of a combination of resin and flexible urethane, all pigmented the same black. Originals were made of air dry clay, a mould was made from silicone, then parts were cast one by one. Took a freaking long time. The shoes were…painful to wear, but I made them from scratch.
